The Great Mosque of Khurmal is located in Khurmal district of Halabja province. Its history dates back to the time of the arrival of Islam in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. After the advent of Islam in the area, the Companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him) Abdullah ibn 'Umar (peace be upon him) built a mosque there and the five written prayers, Friday prayers and two holidays were performed there.rnThe mosque has a total area of ​​2,500 square meters. It was renovated in 1961 (1061 AH) and rebuilt in 1992 (1412 AH). The mosque has two doors and a minaret that dates back 400 years.
